Opinion on “It’s a Disease!”

Everyone knows addiction is a disease. This article is outdated. This article doesn’t address addiction treatment at all or even the root causes of addiction. It only talks about the brain damage that addiction causes. Nobody cares about that when they’re getting high. They’re trying to numb the trauma symptoms/nightmares/panic attacks/mental illness symptoms, etc., that made them want to use in the first place. Nobody cares about their cortex or limbic system or axons or dendrites when they’re sticking needles into their arms or drinking themselves into oblivion to numb the pain.

Opinion on Chester Bennington Documentary

It is clear in the film by what Bennington says that he struggles with depression, but he doesn’t say anything about addiction. He mentions trauma in his childhood, but doesn’t say what it is. He says things like, “I was a mess. I was surviving,” “I’m uncomfortable in all scenarios,” “Fuck the world,” and “Every year of my life has been a rough year.” He also talks about struggling to be his authentic self and an individual person. The mental health problems are clear, but I fail to see what this documentary/montage of interviews has to do with addiction treatment.

Drugs are never mentioned, and he died by suicide.

11am

I wrote Zuko:

Thank you for writing me and for telling me how you feel. You mean the world to me, and I’m glad we’re on the same page. I don’t want to fuck up our friendship either, but I don’t think that’s what’s happening. Stop catastrophizing. That shit’s just not going to happen with me. If it ended today, I would still cherish our friendship. I love you. I think you’re fantastic. I was cleaning in the bathroom today, and Chucky said out of nowhere, “I’m on your side. I’ve never seen Zuko HAPPY before.”

This isn’t how I ever started a relationship either (obviously), but I like where it’s going.

On the way to Commissary, Tyson passed our group and said hi to everyone individually except me.

Ugh.

Daisy mentioned it later and then said, “Well, would YOU talk to you at this point?” I was like, “I didn’t do anything to that bitch!”

Whatever.

It upsets me that Daisy is being such an asshole about this. But there’s nothing I can do about that. I miss you and I hope to see you soon. The Spice Girls are on the radio. I’ll spare you the lyrics lol.

Valentine’s Day

I wrote Zuko:

Happy Valentine’s Day. I love your gift, that was very thoughtful and beautiful. You’re a talented artist. You’re talented at a lot of things, it turns out. I loved this morning, I only wish we had more time. I don’t want to be nervous and rushed with you. I want to kiss you all over. I want to please you, too, but I don’t know what you like. I want to find out. You’re so fucking sexy, I can’t stand it. I keep running it over and over in my head.

Sexy, sexy.

I want more time with you. All the time. I didn’t want more coffee because I’m still shaky. Thank you for offering. I feel fantastic, by the way, so thank you. I love you. Hopefully we can spend more time together later.

For Valentine’s Day, Zuko drew me a Calla lilly and wrote on the back, “Like a symbol of rebirth and renewal, Calla lilies remind us to embrace change and new beginnings…”

4:34pm

Motorcycle visited. It did not go well. He spent the entire visit talking about his ex-wife and how “she didn’t know who she was playing with” when she divorced him. I got the distinct feeling that he was gaslighting and also threatening me. He told me he would dump all my shit in the lawn when I offered to have my parents pick it up, and when he left, he said, “I’ll leave now so you can go back to your girlfriend.”

Jesus Christ.

Saturday

12:55pm

I didn’t go to lunch because it was fish, so I was in the bathroom giving Zuko a back massage because she’s sore today, and Martha was in there taking a shower. When Martha and I got back to the cell, she said, “Jess, let me know when you’re not going to lunch so I can put my shower at a different time. I don’t want an audience.”

Like–we’re not fucking looking at YOU, Miss!! Is this what it’s like to be discriminated against for being gay?? Literally 50 people share that bathroom! And this coming from the woman who shows her big fake tits to people on command for fun!!

What in the actual fuck?!!

Anyway, Stryder messaged me and told me that he drove by Motorcycle’s house and my shit wasn’t in the yard. That’s good anyway. Zuko and I had sex in the shower yesterday morning. I didn’t really do much to her, which I feel badly about, but she touched me. It was heavenly. It turns me on that she gets so turned on by me. She has a gorgeous body, and some really beautiful tattoos. Her friend was a lookout for us, and saw me get into her shower. She told Zuko that I have a hot body. I appreciated that. Zuko didn’t say anything about it really, afterward, or about me.

Common Room time.

Zuko wrote me:

“I can taste you on my lips and smell you in my clothes.”

“The Universe must have divined this. Ladies first, Baby, I insist.”

Hey Beautiful,

I’m quite sore today, as expected. And I don’t mean tiny clusters of car crash, I mean haven’t used those muscles in years sore from sex 🙂

Worth it.

Apparently I was standing weird and was also holding you up more than I thought. *flex* 🙂Yesterday was great, except for that middle part with that limpdick psycho.

Congratulations on making it past the potted plant level, I knew you had it in you 😛 You feel amazing. I can’t wait til we have a nice big bed and plenty of time to ourselves. Standing in a metal box is not ideal. Still sexy tho, cuz you were there with me 🙂It felt so fucking good to have your beatiful body against mine. A little piece of Heaven in this hell. 🙂You’re sexy AF and I can’t get enough of you. I need more. I love when you kiss me on my neck and ear and face. Everywhere. I love your lips on mine. You feel so fucking good…I’m not getting much writing done cuz I’m busy thinking about you. Now you interrupted me in person, which I enjoyed 🙂. Thank you for the massage, Babe, I really appreciate it.

I love feeling your hands on me. I love any physical contact with you. I’m very affectionate, and I’d be all over you all of the time if I could. I’d love to be able to hold your hand, or come up behind you and wrap my arms around your waist and kiss your cheek and neck. Gotta get your ramen (hair) outta my way quick first tho. 😛

I love when you kiss and touch me.

I don’t like feeling rushed and nervous with you either. I’d much rather take our time kissing and exploring each other. I don’t want you to ever feel pressured to do anything you’re not comfortable with when we’re together, okay?

Take your time, I’m patient.

And I love you 🙂A lot. ♥️ Doing anything here is tricky cuz we have to be quiet, which sucks. I’d love to hear you. This is sexy too tho, cuz I really have to focus on your body…your breath, your movements, the look on your face. 🙂

Okay, I gotta get ready. This stupid dickhead is here all night, so rules 🙁

I love you 🙂

You’re beautiful and sexy and I just adore you. ♥️

I wrote Zuko back:

Zuko,

“I’m thinkin’ bout

How people fall in love in mysterious ways…

I’m thinkin’ out loud…

Baby, we found love right where we are…

You have a gorgeous body, and some really beautiful tattoos. I loved yesterday with you. It was fun and sexy. However, I would prefer a big bed too, and lots of time. I’m sorry you’re so sore.

That sucks.

I couldn’t stop thinking about you while Motorcycle was droning on and on about his ex-wife.

I love your body up against mine. I’m glad you like it when I kiss your neck and ear and face because I’m going to keep doing it as long as you’ll let me.

I love kissing you.

I want to kiss you everywhere.

You feel so good.

I wish I didn’t have to be quiet too. Then I could focus more on you and less on making no noise. It was hard to do. You felt amazing.

I feel like I’m saying the same things over and over again, probably because I’ve been running it through my head over and over again….mmmmmmmmmm so good.

And nice lol.

I wish we could be affectionate with each other when we wanted to.

Fucking prison.

*sigh*

Oh well.

If this is the only way I can have you, then I’ll take it.

I love you, and I can’t wait to see you again.

Love,

Justine

MUNCY STATE PRISON

February 2nd, 2025

Quote from Michael Robotham in “Good Girl, Bad Girl:”

“People who lost children have their hearts warped into weird shapes. Losing a child is beyond comprehension. It defies biology. It contradicts the natural order of history and genealogy. It derails common sense. It violates time. It creates a huge, black, bottomless hole that swallows hope.”

I love that quote.

I have to write Paul back. He wrote me the beginning of a story that I’m meant to finish:

1/20/25

“The bright noon sun released its rays onto the frigid snow once the clouds vacated their coverage of the sky. The light reflected off of the crisp snowflakes individually, dotting the white landscape with a seemingly endless field of jewels of all different colors.

A hot mist of breath burst from Jenna Kensington’s mouth as she walks back from her apartment, a 500 square foot studio on the fourth floor of a high-rise apartment building on Main St. With the breath snaking its way through the air and vanishing, another breath emerged from her mouth. The temperature was at zero, and any damp warmth from any source escaped as hot vapor, inevitably reaching its death as it disappeared into the air.

As she finally approached her building, she was greeted by the doorman, Rexford Dish.

“You’re lucky you’re not a chipmunk, Jenna.”

Jenna looked at Red and rolled her eyes with annoyance, knowing that Rex would most likely keep her from getting out of the extreme cold until she listened to whatever stupid punchline he was about to come up with at the moment. As the doorman, his sense of humor was the key to the building for not only her, but most of the residents as well.

“Oh? Why is that, Rex?”

He responded with a smirk, “Because you would be freezing your nuts off!”

Jenna stopped in front of Rex and gave him an all-inclusive scowl complete with narrowed eyes, flared nostrils, and a furrowed brow. Her facial expression indicating without words that the joke was really dumb, that she was freezing and would die soon, and that if she didn’t get inside in the next ten seconds she would charge through Rex with the strength of a hairless wooly mammoth.

Rex received the message loud and clear and opened the door for Jenna.

“Thanks.”

She responded with a harsh tone and a scoff, and it was all the politeness she had at the current moment.

Rex followed her inside to the warm lobby. The lobby was decorated with a few fake floor plants, and a pair of paintings, one of the beach, and one of a tropical forest. The floors, walls, and ceiling were all very clean and polished, and most importantly, the air around her was toasty and inviting, a welcome contrast to the ninth level of hell she had just escaped from. “Sorry, Jenna, I guess today isn’t really the time for jokes.”

Jenna looked at him with astonishment and responded with the sharpest punch of sarcasm, “Do you think so?”

THE END

My return story:

Rexford wondered what on earth could be wrong with Jenna for her to be so snippy. Outside, the sparkling snow fell gently to the ground, in contrast to the storm raging in Jenna’s eyes.

“How was your day?” Rex asked tentatively, hoping to mend the rift between them.

Jenna fairly exploded, “I just had to spend three hours outside in the sub-zero temperatures to cover an ice-fishing tournament, and my deadline is this afternoon! My entire body is frozen!”

Rexford, taken aback, wondered what he could do to help. He knew Jenna was working in a fast-paced environment at a demanding newspaper, and that deadlines loomed large over Jenna’s life.

“Maybe you could take a hot bath,’ Rex suggested feebly, hoping to be of some assistance.

“I don’t have time for a bath!” Jenna exclaimed, exasperated. Almost immediately, she softened, and then said, “I’m sorry I’m taking this out on you. I’m just frustrated. Maybe you’re right. I do have some time…” She trailed off, considering. Then she brightened. “When is your break? Do you want to come up for some hot cocoa?”

Rex checked his watch, “It’s actually right now. I’d love to.” He was relieved that Jenna was in better spirits. They had been friends for a long time, and he was fond of Jenna. Besides that, he found her incredibly attractive, and had secretly always wanted more than a platonic friendship with her. “Good,” Jenna said, “It’s settled then.”

They headed to the elevator, and Rex pushed the “four” button. Jenna looked at Rex and smiled her signature half-smile. He thought there was something like a sparkle in her eye, and he wondered what that was about.

When they reached her floor, Rex dutifully followed Jenna to her apartment. She unlocked the door and swung it wide, revealing her somewhat unkempt living room, with piles of papers and books everywhere. “Sorry, it’s a little messy,” Jenna said, and waved her hand dismissively. She shed her coat and scarf and Rex did the same.

TO BE CONTINUED…

Zuko wrote me:

Hey Beautiful 🙂

I had a nice day with you…I always have a nice day with you 🙂. I saw you right after I got up from my nightmares, and you said, “Good morning Sunshine,” and smiled your pretty smile at me. 🙂Hi. 🙂Thank you for rubbing my neck and shoulders and back and for fixing up my knee. You’re very sweet, thank you. 🙂

I really enjoy our time together. You’re so easy to talk to and you’re smart and beautiful and funny and sexy. That’s why we’re madly in like with each other, lol 🙂. I miss you when you’re not around. I wanna tell you all the dumb shit that happens, like Wolf not understanding how to mail a fuckin letter 😐. Smith had to explain how to close the envelope and put it in the mailbox. Don’t forget to lick it! 😐🙄Fisher and I just looked at each other and were like, how are some people even alive?

ANyway, I’m glad you like the chicken and rice 🙂. I can do better…you should let me make you dinner again 🙂. I wish I had real food and cooking tools to use, but I’m trying my best with what I have here.

I want to kiss you all the time too, when we’re doing “normal” things. ALL the time 🙂. I wish I could touch you when we’re doing normal things too. I wanna walk up behind you when you’re like, in line for water or whatever and put my arms around you and kiss your neck and then mouth. I wanna touch you, not just for like sex stuff. Like, I want to hold your hands or have my feet or legs on yours and I love hugging you. I guess the word I’m looking for is affectionate. Yeah, that.

It’s late. Bedtime. Thanks for a nice Groundhog’s Day 🙂. I wish we were sporking right meow. 🙂

Goodnight.

P.S. I’m glad I can make you happy in your heart. You do the same for me. 🙂

Good morning 🙂

Spider liver. Lmfao I was so fuckin confused. 🙃So yeah, anyway, now that I’m awake and not about to fall asleep: I find myself wanting to do things with you that is neither friend stuff nor makeout buddy stuff. Like when your hands are shaky (is there an “E” in shaky?) 😐*shrug* I wanna hold your hands. Cuddling is another example. We never discussed any of that, but you don’t seem to be against it. You said you were pro-cuddling 🙂.

Anyway, I gotta get ready for class. But here’s this for you. I wrote you back. 🙂I’m not a pro writer like you, so thanks for your patience. I’m just some washed up semi-pro soccer player 😜. I hope you have a good day. I hope I see you before I leave, or else I spent my time writing this early for no reason…I could have been doing my usual awesome stuff.

Ok byyyyyyyyyyyyyyye! 🙂

I wrote Zuko back:

Hey sexy,

I had a nice day with you too. I’m sorry you had nightmares and were/are sore, I wish there was something more I could do to help. Thank you for saying I have a pretty smile–I’ll never get tired of that. You’re easy to talk to too, and I love your face (especially your eyes) and you’re smart and funny and sexy too. I think it’s funny that we both say we’re not in a relationship with each other, because I don’t really know what would change if we were. I miss you when you’re not around too, and I think about you a lot. I had a dream about you this morning. I’m always thinking to myself, “I have to tell her that (whatever) happened.” I loved the chicken and rice, that was very sweet of you. I wish we could touch each other and kiss each other when we wanted to. I’m very pro-cuddling. Cuddling is good for your soul. I love hugging you too. You’re a very good hugger. I just like being really close to you for any reason, I think. I like it when you’re affectionate with me. I wish we were sporking right meow too. 🙂There’s no “E” in shaky. You’re not washed up. You’re perfect the way that you are.

Spider livers aside, you seem kind of judgy about how many people I’ve slept with. I’m not particularly proud of that, but I’m not ashamed of it either. It’s just a fact. I would never put you at risk for a disease. The only transmissible disease I’ve ever had was Hepatitis C, and I was treated for that six years ago. To be honest, the three people I was sleeping with before I got here weren’t even sleeping with anyone else. And I don’t just fuck around anymore–I love the people I’m sleeping with or are at least very fond of them and we’re good friends. I don’t have meaningless sex anymore, and I think you have the wrong idea about that. Sex is important to me because of the connection it creates, not just because it feels nice.

Anyway, I hope to see you soon.

9pm

Zuko asked me if I wanted to be her girlfriend today and I said okay. We’ll see if anything changes. CO DickeyDo didn’t give us any phone signups for tomorrow since we were being too loud.

Jerk.

February 4th, 2025

Tuesday

9:38am

Lolita’s memorial service is today at 10am. I’m going. Zuko changed her mind and said that we should just keep things the same so we don’t get separated. That’s fine with me. People get all crazy over labels anyway. I wonder if she’s going to write me today. She kissed me this morning and said she missed me. I missed her too. I wonder what it’s going to be like when I leave this place and she has to stay. Now I feel like a liar every time I talk to Motorcycle. Zuko asks me all of the time why I’m with him. I don’t seem to know anymore. I loved him at one point. Now–I don’t know.

11:05am

Lolita’s service was nice. Very Catholic, but nice. Nobody got up and said anything about her, which was a shame. Just the priest talking about her being in Heaven with Jesus–even though Catholics don’t believe in suicides going to Heaven. That’s the third Catholic suicide funeral I’ve been to. The other two were men–well–one 15-year old boy and one 35-year old police officer. They sang, “Lift You Up on Eagle’s Wings” or something like that. Something about eagle’s wings. Zuko cried.

5:39pm

Note from Zuko:

Hey Sexy 🙂

I’ll start how you sometimes finish:

“What am I supposed to do, but sink my teeth in you?

I’d starve without you on my lips.

I’d die without the taste of it.

What am I supposed to be, when you sink your teeth into me?

Cuz I live for the way you move.

I die without the taste of you.”

You feel so fuckin good, I can’t get enough of you. Kissing and touching you this morning was amazing. I love the way you taste and how you feel against me. You’re sexy AF and I want you. ALL THE TIME. Your lips belong on mine and my hands were meant to be all over you. I love looking into your eyes and seeing your smile when my face is right next to yours 🙂. And then kissing you more. Mmmmmmmmmmm fuck. We need more alone time. I wanna take my time with you, enjoy you, please you. I wanna take your breath away and then kiss you more. Grab your hair and pull it so your head goes back and I can kiss your neck and then slowly kiss my way down to your chest. 🙂My hand is ahead of my mouth, exploring your body…down your stomach, grabbing your hips and ass, and pulling you toward me. I kiss you harder and then run my fingertips down your one thigh, then slowly work my way up your other thigh. You press your body against mine, wanting more. I lightly drag my fingers along your lips while we kiss, teasing you, moving closer and closer, til you can’t wait anymore, so I slide my finger into you and gently massage your clit. All my energy is focused on you and discovering what brings you the most pleasure. We fall into rhythm together and I don’t stop until you’re completely satisfied, digging your nails into me while I kiss you passionately, trying in vain to keep you quiet. 🙂

I miss you!

I wrote her back:

Holy fuck!

You sure know how to turn me on. I loved it, and I can’t wait until we have more alone time together. I read it with my face like this 😮

Holy fuck.

I don’t feel good today, so I’m off, sorry. I won’t interrupt your eating anymore, I just needed you to kiss me right then.

I love the way you touch me, and I always can’t wait until the next time you put your hands on me. You feel SO good. I just wish things were different. I want us to know everything about each other’s bodies, and find out what turns you on. I would love to take a shower with you, and feel your naked body against mine. All hot and we and kissing and…fuck.

I would love that.

I loved your song lyrics, and your description of what you want to do to me. I want you all of the time too. I find myself wondering what your mouth would feel like on my body and what your face would look like when you get off.

I want to know.

Badly.

Good night.

Good morning. I like your hair. I feel a little better today. I’m just going to give this to you.

Forgiveness, Cougars, and Gangbangers?

WOMEN’S CENTER

May 3rd, 2018

Thursday

Day 304

2pm

The new woman, Sandra, isn’t doing so hot. She threw up this morning and now has a migraine that won’t go away. It’s about 80 degrees out today. It’s hard to believe it was snowing two weeks ago. I have a kidney infection brewing, I just know it. I told Big, but my doctor wants lab work, and we’re not going to Coudersport again until Tuesday. I’m so pissed. I just need a fucking antibiotic!

Ugh.

In any case, I guess I’ll read this Forgiveness book:

  1. Sin creates a deficit in God’s economy because whenever there is sin, something is taken or demanded from the sinner. Historically, whenever human beings sin against God, He provides a channel through which fellowship can be established and maintained.

Atonement means “to cover.”

More than retribution, God wants to fellowship with us.

A major hindrance to the ability to experience God’s forgiveness is the unwillingness to accept God’s frame of reference concerning sin and the individual’s inability to do anything about it.

“Through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.”  –Acts 10:43

10:30pm

I’m supposed to be sleeping, but I can’t. The air is warm and wet, and all I can hear are the peepers outside peeping to each other. It’s nights like this that I would stay up and write because there’s just the right amount of solitude and inspiration in the air. But alas, I cannot, and will be forced to turn my light out soon.

At the meeting tonight I talked about pain. The pain in my body because of the damp weather and the pain in my heart for my drunk sister. Tori talks of how she is afraid to leave and I can’t wait to be anywhere but here. Nikolai may be getting an apartment in Roulette, by the sounds of it. Tori has been refusing to consider Roulette as an option because we have no vehicle and there is nothing but a post office and a small convenience store. I hate Roulette, but I would love to be close to Tiger. I’d give anything for her to be able to walk to my house if she wanted to.

Maybe I’ll talk more to Tori about it.

I guess I’ll try to sleep rather than wait for the staff to yell at me about my light.

11:30pm

Can’t sleep.

These visions of sexcapades past keep dancing through my head. I think it’s because it’s one of those nights that would be fantastic to stay up all night making love.

So quiet and peaceful.

The air is thick with humidity, but it’s cool enough that it’s not sticky.

Just the right temperature to roll around with somebody special and play and have fun.

Which makes me think of Tori. Not having sex with her, but the fact that the sexual harassment at work is such that she’s allowing people to touch her now inappropriately and acts as if she is a small child and is powerless to stop it. It makes me mad on some level that she won’t stand up for herself; but sad too, because she was horribly sexually abused as a child. Her bipolar disorder is manifesting itself more severely than normal now too, I think because she actually feels on some level as if she IS a child.

She says she never grew up.

I told her that now is the time.

She refuses to assert herself, always with a smile on her face, no matter what she actually feels inside.

One man at work in particular, Bill, is exploiting her niceness and it makes me boil inside.

My hand hurts too much to keep writing.

More later, probably.

12:30am

Still can’t sleep. I got up to pee, and while walking back to my room, through the glass doors I saw a deer glide silently across the parking lot, ever reminding me that she is free, and I sit in a cage.

While I was lying awake I was aspiring to the future and dreaming a dream. Here’s my dream: I’d like to (with my millions of dollars) buy that giant Adelphia building in the middle of Coudersport and turn it into a Vet Tech School with a free emergency animal hospital in it.

Wouldn’t that be amazing?

It would revitalize Coudersport, as well as help the community and the animals in it. As it stands, there is one tiny vet clinic in Coudersport that does not take emergencies.

I wonder what the PCAAP (Potter County Animal Assistance Project) people would think of this idea…they’re sitting on a couple million dollars…hmmmmm.

They pay to spay and neuter stray animals and the animals of people who cannot afford to have their animals spayed and neutered (like me).

I miss my cats.

I have a feeling that my rat is dead.

He had two cancerous lumps when I left a year ago.

Poor thing.

I have to get Kidowed published somehow. I can’t wait to get the fuck out of here.

The End.

Try to sleep again.

I’m surprised they haven’t yelled at me yet.

May 4th, 2018

Day 305

Friday

6am

I slept like shit last night. Woke up about a hundred times. I’m in some pain today–my hands are hurting. I guess I’ll read my forgiveness book.

12pm

Great.

I have no idea what I did but Big says he’s “disappointed” in me. Just said that and walked away.

Jesus Christ what the fuck did I do NOW???!!!!

He’s so judgmental I can’t stand it. Way to fuck up my day.

Well, I found out.

Big’s mad at me because I apparently was “fraternizing” with Nick, a guy I know that showed up at the meeting last night. I gave the kid a hug, for God’s sake.

Fuck.

I can’t win.

Nick was at the meeting because he brought Harley, who is in love with Tori, who actually IS fraternizing with him. I also hugged three other guys last night, but he doesn’t seem to care about that!

Fuck!

Then he called me a cougar, which is funny, because Nick is 15 years younger than me.

What the fuck.

I can’t win with this guy.

It’s NA!!

WE HUG!!

There’s something I’m missing to this, because I’ve been hugging guys in front of Big for months, and he never cared before Nick.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…………..I know Nick has the reputation of being a playboy, but please.

5:30pm

We got another new lady–Brenda. She seems to have no sort of personality whatever–I guess we’ll see.

Oh crap, the weather just got super nasty–there’s a tornado warning. Now we don’t get to go to a meeting or smoke for the rest of the night.

Blech.

8pm

In-house NA meeting. Brenda is very young–not even 20 years old yet, she said. She’s one of those people who you can’t tell her intelligence level because her mouth is hanging open all of the time. I know she’s on Lithium, because I saw some of her meds out in the Med Room. She’s probably bipolar.

Like the rest of us.

In any case, my medication to treat my Hep-C came in today, I’ll start it tomorrow. It’s an 8-week treatment, and it’s supposed to work for over 90% of people, to be curative.

10:30pm

Hanging out with Tori–now we’re talking about sex. Sex with Nick specifically. Jolene is after him and says she hears he’s hung like a horse.

Hm.

I’d rather not think about it–it just frustrates me.

I just asked Tori where Kat and the other Residential Worker went and she said, “Probably tongue punching each other’s fart box.”

She’s so funny.

I don’t know where she comes up with this shit.

Jolene’s talking about Bloods and Crips and gangbangers.

I guess I don’t know anything about that.

Day 306

Saturday

12pm

Brenda seems to be doing better today–she helped with planting seeds for the garden. I’m a little worried about her–she seems like a child.

I miss my Tiger.

I wonder how she’s doing.

I miss being a Vet Tech.

I miss everything from my old life.

I guess I’ll read this forgiveness book instead of wallowing in self-pity.

7pm

Off to a meeting in Coudersport. Tori’s pissed that we’re not going to Galeton because she was going to get cigarettes from Harley and told him to go to Galeton. I guess he also went shopping for clothes for her…I don’t see how she would have gotten any of them back to the Center, but whatev.

Day 307

Sunday

2am

Can’t sleep.

Fire whistle went off and then of course tons of sirens to follow. At the meeting last night Brash and one of the women he fucks showed up, him with the dog he abuses and a boa constrictor around his neck.

Gawd.

Self-centered much?

I need to stop being so judgmental.

When we got back I finished my book on forgiveness–good book, although super religious. It suggests that you should make lists of all of the people you have bitterness towards and what they did to you, and then pretend you are face to face with them and go through a series of steps in order to forgive them and emotionally release them so that you might be set free.

I guess Brash and his Bitches would be on my list–they helped land me here.

Oh, great–they just told me I have to turn off my light.

Why is some of the staff cool and then others suck?

I hope I can sleep.

I guess the dude who used to work the night shift was going to get fired, so he quit. He was doing drugs with Jolene not so long ago, and word got out.

Okay, good night.

Especially right now, when the world is crumbling beneath our very feet, and America’s Democracy doesn’t exist anymore.

  53. How should you handle the end of a friendship?
    1. In the very unfortunate event of a friendship ending, I would say that people should part ways peaceably and as amicably as possible. If they are so different that they simply cannot be friends, then they should just go their separate ways, without a lot of bluster and name-calling.
  54. Should home-schoolers be allowed to play public sports?
    1. Yes, absolutely. These children are still a part of the community, and should not be ostracized.

  57. What questions do you have about how the world works?
    1. I want to know why hate seems to be ruling the planet right now, when good is so easy to do.

    1. I believe that everyone who wants to should be able to get a college education. For free.
  72. How important is keeping your cool?
    1. Extremely important. Especially in volatile situations. People who panic are the ones who escalate the situations and make them dangerous.

    1. I have failed at a great many things. And as a result, I learned what not to do next time.
  75. How should parents address internet pornography?
    1. Parents should be candid and honest about pornography on the internet, and they should let their kids know that sex doesn’t happen like that in real life, and that these are extreme examples of ridiculous ideas. Making love is not featured in pornography, and so pornography should be avoided, as it is not realistic and can be addictive and create unrealistic expectations about what sex should be like. Pornography is dangerous in that way, and it also normalized rape, which should never, ever be normal.

    1. Don’t lie to make yourself look better, and always be kind and lead with your true personality. If it doesn’t work out–and most dates will not be your soul mate–then at least you did your best.
  79. How full is your glass?
    1. Three-quarters
  80. What’s your comfort food?
    1. Donuts
  81. What is your opinion about the morning after pill?
    1. It should be widely available for anyone having sex, and it should be free. We should not be forcing women to have babies that they do not want and are unprepared for.
  82. When should juvenile offenders receive life sentences?
    1. Never. By definition, a juvenile “offender’s” brain is not fully developed. Even if the crime they committed was severe, they would not be capable of fully grasping the gravity of it until years later. How can you hold someone accountable for a crime they don’t fully understand?

Muncy State Prison

Blog #4

Neither Here Nor There: Musings from the Other Side (of the Razor Wire Fence)

Welp, still here at Muncy, and because I feel like it, here’s an entire blog of dirty and/or inappropriate stuff. It’s ribbed, for your pleasure.

You’re welcome.

Daisy is measuring her release  date time by her menses. She has 15 periods left before she gets paroled. Raja, on the other hand, is having her period, and just remarked that there is a serial killer in her underwear. Jason Kelce was recently quoted in People magazine about not wearing underwear with, “I find it unnecessary and problematic to the freedom that my boys like to enjoy.”

Fun fact: Daisy doesn’t wear underpants either.

In other news, I’m gassy and it’s gross.

Ever farted in front of 50 people? Everyone looks around and tries to fine the culprit  like they’re in kindergarten–”EW! Who farted??”

Over here. It’s me. I’m the problem, it’s me.

Meanwhile, the neighbors are insulting each other again. This time it’s: “You look like my ass without lotion,” and “You look like a long-titty-no-nipple-havin’-ass-bitch!”

Oh my stars, as Kimberly would say.

In other news, Daisy and I were talking about dating Black men, and I recounted a story about the first Black man I dated, when I was 19 and in college. He had the whitest name ever–Robert–and he sold a magazine where I worked as a bookstore clerk. He would buy me Boone’s Farm drinks and I would get drunk at his apartment where there was black shag carpeting and an entirely glass coffee table. When I broke up with him, he couldn’t believe it. He looked at me, aghast, and said incredulously, “But I licked your butthole!” I had no idea that asshole lickery had bonded us for life. I thought the man had just lost his way.

Silly me.

When Daisy dated her first Black man, they went to see the Exorcist, and to hear her tell it, the theater was so cold that her nipples were hard so she tried to cuddle up to this guy, but she couldn’t get too close because his breath was so bad. “He had a turd in his cheek!” she shrieked, and then fell over on her bed laughing. “Never again,” she declared.

This started a sex-story-athon, so next, my first husband apparently thought I wasn’t very good at blow jobs, because he bought some DVD when I was 20 to teach me the ABC’s of giving head.

The nerve!

It featured real couples and also featured some of the least sexy sex I had ever seen. Some of these couples had to be 60 years old, with mom-bods and beer guts galore. “Oh, that’s hot,” I thought, and proceeded never to give him a blow job again.

Daisy then told me about some porn she saw where a woman had a ton of sex toys up in her vagina. She was like, “She had the Mary Poppins of pussies! Like–just when you thought she was done, out comes another one!”

Then she asked her boyfriend, Wizard, to look up Urban Sex Positions for entertainment while she was incarcerated, and he came back with “The Minivan.”

Soooooooooo….you’ve heard of “The Shocker,” right? Two in the pink and one in the stink? Okay, so this one is two in the front and FIVE in the back, like a freakin’ minivan!

“What, you just punch them in the butthole? I asked, mouth agape. She shrugged and said nonchalantly, “Some people like being fisted.”

Ew.

Then we got into a conversation about men on meth who want to fuck for six hours straight with their “al dente” dicks and to butt stuff, but never get off.

Boy, do I not miss THOSE days.

*sigh*

Good times.

Like I said, you’re welcome.

And who farted?

Motorcycle, Minivans, and Man–You Don’t Even Want to Know

May 3, 2024

Muncy State Prison

11:29am

Friday

We just heard over the radio that CPR has been started on someone on J Unit. Jesus Christ. I hope it’s not another suicide. The Unit is silent, waiting to hear what happens. There’s tension in the air. Some people, like me, are eyes-wide, looking around, and others just shake their heads and put them down, as if to say, “Another one bites the dust.” Burgundy says it’s always J Unit. There are rows  of single cells, like S Unit, with automatic doors that are usually closed, only to be opened by an officer in the bubble by pressing a button on J Unit.

11:40am

Ambulance en route. It’s harder to hang yourself on an open Unit, like this one, BB. The walls between the pods only go up to chest level, so if you’re on the top tier and have a top bunk, you have a bird’s eye view of the entire Unit. People on this Unit are mad that lunch is going to be late, because they may not get to “shop” at Commissary. Someone is dying, and they’re made about coffee and e-cigarettes. It’s sad and infuriating that suicides are commonplace here.

11:52am

Ambulance en route (to the Unit?).

Book: “Women Who Love Men Who Kill: 35 True Stories of Prison Passion” by Sheila  Isenberg © 2021

P. 7 “Today, prison phone calls a $1.2 billion industry under the control of two large corporations, Securus and GlobalTel. They claim to reduce the cost os inmate calls up to 90 percent, including local, long distance, and international…Securus and GlobalTel are very profitable. They and some individual states earn huge profits on calls; many states pay legal kickbacks. For example, in 2018, Connecticut state prisoners paid $13.2 million for phone calls, of which Securus returned nearly 60 percent to the state. In 2010, the state of Hawaii profited by  $3.3 million from prisoner phone calls…But today, even our carceral society that penalizes so many, often unfairly, gives us the online revolution a place behind prison walls. The internet allows prisoners to stay in touch with families, and wives and girlfriends. According to experts, this cuts down on recidivism because of the prisoner’s ability to maintain a connection with the outside world.”

P.8

“First, there is JPay, ‘aiming to become the Apple of the U.S. penal system…’ Founded in 2006, JPay’s app can be downloaded on Apple’s App Store or on Google Play. It partners with institutions on all levels–federal, state, and county–in thirty-five states. A million and a half ‘offenders [prisoners],’ parolees, and probationers’ use it for money transfers, emails, and video visitation.”

p.8

“Since 2009, federal prison inmates have been able to send and receive emails through a system used by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons: TRULINCS (Trust Fund Limited Inmate Computer System). TRULINCS is operated by CORRLINK, a privately owned company that is a subsidiary of Advanced Technologies Group.”

12:15pm

Count is clear.

12:40pm

Lunch.

1:15pm

It was Sharon M. who hung herself. No one knows if she’s dead or alive.

I didn’t go to lunch and called Motorcycle instead. He got my letter and said that he was upset that I think he doesn’t believe I’ll be faithful. He said he believes me. And that, “I love you very much, Jess.”

Sweet.

He also told me that he’s never said that he would “bend his knee” for anyone before, ever. I meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen…he was married once, but whatever. I’ll take it. I love him very much too. I wrote him a letter:

5/3/24

Motorcycle,

I talked to you earlier today. You were so sweet. I love it when you’re all romantic with me. I mess spending time with you too, and crawling into your lap when I need a break from work. And cooking and eating together. Everything, really. I miss normal things. Shopping and driving around together. Just spending time together. I miss everything. I hate this. I hate being away from you, and not knowing what’s going to happen. I hate not knowing where I’m going live when this is all over.

Ugh.

Anyway, I love you very much too, and I can’t imagine my life without you.

In other news, another woman here hung herself today. It’s so sad that it’s so normal here that no one really cares. People are just mad that we’re locked down, or they can’t go to Commissary or whatever.

Terrible.

My worst fear is dying in prison. I haven’t gotten any letters or correspondence from Paul, so I stopped writing him. I give up. If he doesn’t want to be friends anymore, that’s fine. I can’t do anything about it anyway. I talked to Gem this morning. Nothing new with her except for the rumor about the DA and the Judge being under investigation. I sent the letter today to the Public Defender asking him why there was a conflict with the last case and not this one. I also sent a letter to Tabby. She writes huge long messages on the kiosk and I can only write her back a line or two. My mother told me the Maple Festival is this weekend and she’s taking the kids. Stryder has messaged me a few times with jealous bullshit about me choosing you over him. This after he didn’t speak to me for five months. Whatever. I didn’t respond. I can do without his drama just fine.

Anyway, I love you very, very much and I miss you like crazy.

Love Always,

Justine

5:47pm

I have one piece of yellow paper left for writing letters. I’m going to call the boys at 6:30pm. I keep wondering if I should write Tiger. I don’t see why I would. She won’t care anyway, but I think about her a lot.

Bambi, the Vietnamese lady next door, wants me to ghost write the story of her life for her. Daisy got colored pencils today on Commissary, so she’s happily coloring.

Burgundy asked the young Black lady next door yesterday what her charges were, her name is Momo, and she said that someone put some drug in her drink and she went nuts and stabbed her young daughter. Her daughter survived, but she’s not allowed to have any contact with her. She said she called her mom, where her kids live, and her daughter (the victim) insisted on talking to her She said, “I still love you, Mommy!”

So sad.

She got 6-16 years for felony child endangerment. She’s been down four years so far. I wonder if she’ll get paroled. I would think not.

In other news, I got a yoga packet from some Activities person I wrote. Daisy says we’ll start tomorrow. I didn’t eat lunch today because it was fish. Dinner was spaghetti, so I ate it. Burgundy is working on an 1,000 piece puzzle. No thank you. I guess I’ll read. Library Monday, thank God.

6:33pm

Lockdown again. I was in the middle of my phone call with King. Jesus God. There’s no telling how long this will take. “Secure your Unit” over the radio. Henry sprained his ankle during soccer. Hopefully I’ll get to talk to Superman tonight.

Who knows what happened this time.

6:40pm

“Compound is clear” over radio.

6:43pm

“Keep compound secure”

Showers and phone calls only. I’m not going to call Superman for two minutes. Inmate.com says that they found contraband in a shower. Daisy and I were talking about dating Black men, and I recounted a story about the first Black man I dated, when I was 19. He had the whitest name ever–Robert–and he sold a magazine where I worked as a bookstore clerk. He would buy me Boone’s Farm drinks and I would get drunk at his apartment, where there was black shag carpet and an entirely glass coffee table. When I broke up with him, he couldn’t believe it. She saw him later at a party and he said, “What happened to you?” She was like, “What happened to YOU, man?? Like, why would your breath smell that bad?!

Next, my first husband apparently thought I wasn’t very good at blow jobs, because he bought some DVD when I was 20 to teach me the ABCs of giving head. It featured real couples and also featured the least sexy sex I had ever seen. Some of those couples had to be 60 years old, with mom-bods and beer guts galore. “Oh, that’s hot,” I thought, and proceeded to never give him a blow job again.

Then we got into a conversation about men on meth who want to fuck for six hours straight with their “al dente” dicks and do butt stuff, but never get off.

Boy, do I NOT miss those days.

*sigh*

Good times.

Daisy says that in her county jail, Somerset (not Fayette, it turns out I was wrong), five people have hung themselves in the past five years, and four of them died.

They also make the inmates paint over the black mold before inspections by the state and there are no counselors. Inmates have been known to eat dentures, shoes, and pens, or stick razors up their rectums in order to get a trip to the hospital and get out of the jail for a while. The woman here who hung herself earlier today apparently “did it wrong,” according to the blue shirts in the kitchen, because she lived. Now she has to come back here.

Dear God.

Also, in Somerset County jail, they don’t let ambulances or the coroner into the building, so nobody actually is pronounced dead until they’re in the alley. This way, I’m assuming, they don’t have to count the death as in the prison. How nice of them. I’m sure this skews the statistics of suicides in the Somerset County Jail in their favor.

8:50pm

The women here are discussing how much they get paid. Most of them will get around $30/month. Some of them work six hours per day in the kitchen or doing maintenance for this amount. And that’s IF they don’t get 25% taken out for fines. None of them seem to know or care that this is legal slavery.

There is a Sergeant walking by who is training a new CO with very tight pants on. While they walked by our cell, he told her, “When you leave this place, leave it here. Don’t take it home with you.”

Must be nice.

“We’re going down, down in an earlier round,

And sugar, we’re goin’ down swingin’

I’ll be your number one with the bullet,

A loaded gun complex

Cock it and pull it.”

“I’ll tell you what you want to hear

Keep my sunglasses on while I shed a tear

It’s never the right time…

I’m unstoppable…

I’m a Porsche with no brakes…”

Mr. Big, Sex, and Addictions

Potter County Women’s Center

Day 53

August 26, 2017

Saturday

I don’t have any winter clothes. Hm. I’ll have to go to the Community Closet (and put in a request for that). Now we need request slips to take a shit, it seems. We’re off to Wellsboro for that crappy meeting. Only two or three people besides us ever show up, so it’s ridiculously boring. There’s always supposed to be a speaker, but they never show up.

I’m sitting in the front, so I’m in charge of the radio. Mr. Big has been having fun making all kinds of new rules lately, which makes me like him even less. It also makes it harder not to get written up, which sucks. I can’t get in trouble here because I still have the threat of state prison hanging over my head.

I sent an application and resume to the closest vet clinic, which is 20 minutes away. That’s probably a bit much to hope for, so I’m applying for jobs in Coudersport too. Stupid jobs like “Sandwich Artist” at Subway. I’d like to waitress or bartend so I can make tips. This morning our bathroom wasn’t working, so I took a shower in the staff bathroom (with permission), shut the door and everything, and got walked in on my staff anyway while I was half-naked!

Hope she enjoyed the show.

At least it wasn’t Mr. Big. That would’ve been horrifying.

I don’t really know how I feel about eight more months here. Of course I don’t want to, but I’m trying to be grateful that I’m not in state prison. That sounds awful. Mr. Big seems to like me, he had me run a group yesterday. I decided to make it about God/Higher Power(s)–it went well and even lasted a whole hour, which I was surprised about. It was hard for me to change my address to here, but I did it.

Everybody is singing, “Hold on, hold on to me, cuz I’m a little unsteady…a little unsteady…” I miss singing. Just blasting music (especially in a car) and singing at the top of my lungs. It’s therapeutic. Always makes me feel better anyway. None of the music on the radio seems good to me anymore.

Does that mean I’m old?

1:25pm
The meeting was good. There was a baby there that I got to hold. Reminds me of my sons when they were little. When Tiger was little like that, everything was a blur. I was drinking then. A lot.

My Superman said to me once, “Mommy, I know who my Daddy is.” I, terrified that somehow Prynot had weasled his way into their lives, alarmingly replied, “Who?!” Superman calmly replied, “You are.” That made my heart just melt. I love those kids so much it hurts. Taylor Swift is singing, “Shake it Off.” I feel like I have a million things I can’t shake off. My health problems right now, my extended stay here, the constant ache in my heart for my kids, and so many other things.

I really, REALLY hope this publisher wants to publish my book Kidowed. Right now it’s only available through Smashwords.com as a free download. Maybe I’ll put it back on Amazon for free too. Chantilly and I have been walking more, which is good for me. I can’t get under 150lbs though. My doctor told me I should be happy with that after five children, but the BMI chart on the wall taunts me, saying I’m 15lbs overweight. I feel like it’s more like 25lbs. I weighed 117lbs after the twins, but when they (my parents and Dubya) teamed up and took all three of my kids away from me, all I could do was eat. And I started drinking again. Couldn’t find a reason not to. Then later I started doing drugs too. I just let the overwhelming depression consume me. I’m still having a lot of trouble with anger, acceptance, and gratitude.

And oh, the Pain.

The oppressive, enveloping pain.

On the board at the meeting, it said, “What is Happiness?” I don’t know anymore. I’m really unhappy that I’m not in remission from lupus anymore. That explains the constant pain lately. My hips and knees have been screaming at me despite the daily Meloxicam. It’s been humid and raining a lot. Fourteen miles till Westfield–where I used to get my Vicodin. My friend John Wayne (deceased) used to ride along with me, then he would take me out to eat. He loved the store Ackley’s , and he would lovingly stare at all of the guns, even though he wasn’t allowed to buy one because he shot and killed a man in a bar fight once. He was quite a character. I miss him. I wonder if I hadn’t met him during my using years if I would have cared more about his health (he was 350lbs), gotten him out more, and maybe he would have lived longer. Of course he drank a 30-pack per day.

I have a lot of guilt about our relationship. I used to manipulate him out of his pain meds all of the time (he didn’t take them), using them as payment for cleaning his house or taking him somewhere. Of course he manipulated me too, knowing I would do almost anything to get them. He used to know a couple women who would give him blow jobs for Tylenol 3’s. I never went that far, but he sure tried.

What a relationship.

Two addicts in the grips of a downhill spiral. I was still with Dubya at the time. What a mother I was to Lilly.

Enough of that.

Guilt city. In Westfield now. The song, “Slow Hands” is on, which reminds me of how much I miss sex. It’s not as bad as it was last time I was in here. Of course that time I was sort of withdrawing from Luke. He was like an addiction in himself. I was addicted to everything about him–he oozed sex appeal, thought I was sexy as Hell, and what a freakin’ body! Sexy, sexy. I wonder if I’ll ever have sex like that again. We literally couldn’t get enough of each other–we would have sex for hours, and it always just worked–it never felt forced or uncomfortable.

Amazing.

And I lost 20 freakin’ pounds over that winter with him. Even more amazing. But the fact remains that I was just a fling and his heart belongs to another woman.

Ah, well.

Of course I keep having sex dreams about Mr. Big, but that’s just because he’s he only man I see all day. It’s weird, waking up all turned on, and then having to look him in the face all day.

Twerking, Sex, and Shit Nuggets

Muncy State Prison

April 24, 24

Wednesday

12:43pm

The next cube is discussing Channing Tatum’s “sexy-twerk,” and in my book, Tina Fey is talking about writing “shit nuggets” on Saturday Night Live.

I just signed the waiver to my preliminary hearing and bond paper work.
Ugh.

The criminal conferences aren’t until July. The second one is July 17th. That’s another three months here.

2:39pm

I talked to Motorcycle. Someone he was selling tools to mentioned me and asked him if he knew anyone where he could get laid.

Disgusting.

He thought I was a stripper because he saw me with Motorcycle, who used to be the bouncer at the local strip club. And I’m pretty sure I slept with his brother during a low point in my life.

What a nice reputation to have.
